Additional Work

This section of work is a series of items that have been produced within various exercises in my undergrad and graduate degree. Each of these projects has played a role in improving my learning and understanding of Architecture as a practice. Through model making and other digital media development, these practices allowed further design exploration.

Photography + Sketching

Prior to Architecture school, I always had a passion for visual creation in photography and sketching. These mediums quickly helped me translate form and space and naturally became part of my workflow as a designer.

Disruptive Continuity

A practice developed by Marty Summers, Disruptive Continuity is an exercise in which students manipulate form based on the production of three main tools, vector, surface, and object. Each student is tasked with producing one of these and then creates form by changing and modeling with and against these three elements. This exercise was completed with Gabriella Rivera and Jackson Kearns.

Model Making Techniques

Gaining a better understanding of space through model making is a typical way of working to understand concepts of space, materiality, and form. Throughout undergrad I experimented with these methods in a variety of ways. Such as CNC Milling, Hot foam wire cutting, later cutting, plaster manipulation, and 3D printing. Below are some of these techniques in practice. Some photography featured was supplied by Brent Sturlaugson and Madison Hoover.

Collage Techniques

I had the privilege of participating in an elective class taught by Professor Mark O'Bryan, a class that moved beyond traditional artistic boundaries and into creativity. The course, rooted in the exploration of color theory and creative framing, challenged students to express their artistic visions through a series of collages spanning various mediums, including sculpture, painting, and physical mixed media.

Professor O'Bryan's unique approach to teaching fostered an environment of imagination. From the outset, we were encouraged to push the boundaries of traditional artistic expression, experimenting with diverse materials and techniques. The exploration of color theory served as a foundational element, guiding our artistic decisions and infusing our creations with a rich and purposeful palette.
